The home of Notre Dame's College of Business Administration is a model of the integration of architectural acoustics with classroom technology and building architecture. The acoustical environment in the lecture rooms and classrooms needed to be well controlled to support the state of the art audiovisual technology used in the building. Excellent intelligibility was a requirement for amplified as well as unamplified speech. Along with the amplified speech and program material came the requirement for greater sound isolation between classrooms, so we integrated special construction of the walls and ceilings into the structure to achieve the required isolation.
The facility is comprised of a mix of classrooms, seminar rooms, conference rooms, a 250-seat auditorium and administrative spaces.
